Rattleghyll
Climb the original winding staircase to arrive at this cosy room
on the second floor. Its name echoes the original title for the
cobbled alleyway that runs between the guesthouse and the stream
(ghyll). The name arises from the din that was made by the woollen
mills that surrounded the stream.
Within the room sits an elegant oak chest dating back to the Mid
18th Century, with the signature of its maker pencilled onto the
side of one of the drawers. There are also lovely framed prints of the area and embroidery from our family collection.
Views from this room include glimpses of the imposing Fairfield
horseshoe, as well as a panoramic view over Ambleside towards Loughrigg
fell.
The Bathroom
After venturing onto the fells, soak your aching muscles in the
steaming waters of the bronzed Imperium clawfoot bath. This attention
grabbing tub sits on a rather lovely stone-tiled floor. Please note
that there is no shower attachment. You will just have to indulge
in a dip instead.
Fluffy towels and flannels are provided, as well as complimentary organic
toiletries from Faith In Nature.
