Stockghyll
This is a charming room, with a fine bed and quaint original fireplace.
It is on the first floor with views across the stream (Ghyll is
the local word for a mountain stream) to the waterwheel. Pause awhile
to sit upon the window seat and look out over the waterwheel.
A large gilt-framed antique mirror and original Victorian prints
of the Windermere area add to the atmospheric appeal, and the calming
nature of the period blue Farrow and Ball paintwork finishes off
this room nicely.
You will find a number of glossy magazines to read in your room,
or borrow a book or DVD from a small but varied selection downstairs by
the reception desk.
We provide you with a hot drinks tray- coffee and tea
(Fair Trade), hot chocolate and biscuits. There is usually a sample of Julie's home-baking as well. In addition, an antique
decanter with a good splash of Port inside is cordially presented
for your enjoyment.
The Bathroom
A good-sized bathroom beckons, with its roll-top bath and old-fashioned
thunderbox toilet. Nothing old-fashioned about the plumbing though:-
lashings of steaming hot water for a relaxing bathe or revitalising
shower.
Fluffy towels and flannels are provided, as well as complimentary organic
toiletries from Faith In Nature.
